Vidéo Communication France, LTRT and Codan Broadcast score from the spot at EURO 2008

Codan Broadcast’s products played a vital role in the telecast of the 2008 European Football Championships, Euro 2008, through a customer of Vidéo Communication France (VCF), one of the largest European based media and broadcasting service providers, which is a member of the Euromedia-SFP group. Codan Broadcast NK-Series routers were installed and used by VCF in the M6 master control room, at IBC in Vienna for the EURO FOOT 2008.

Before the Championships in Vienna, Vidéo Communication France purchased an NK Series routing system through Codan Broadcast’s long-standing sales partner in France, LTRT. Previously, VCF provided a proof of concept to their customer, who was preparing to broadcast Euro 2008. Speed of installation was a crucial factor for this customer. Codan Broadcast was able to deliver ahead of schedule and all European competitors.

A test system loaned to LTRT got VCF up and running, while Codan Broadcast’s staff ventured to Paris to personally help set up the system and ensure the installation was done correctly. In-depth training was also provided to VCF staff. The intuitive configuration and stress-free operation of the system impressed VCF’s engineers. They quickly set up the system to suit their requirements and were able to perform the necessary tests within only a few hours.

The speed and quality of delivery and service were not the only factors that suited VCF and their customer’s project needs. Broadcasting at a huge international event like EURO FOOT 2008 creates exceptionally complex broadcasting demands. VCF and their customer were greatly impressed by the technical capabilities of the NK Series system, in particular by its virtual routing core, the NK-VRC. This virtual routing solution to any NK Series routing switcher family gave them all the flexibility and reliability they required.

“This multilevel routing system exactly suits our need in terms of compact size and flexibility,” explained Richard Hayrapian, Directeur d'Exploitation Audio VCF Tournage. “Using the NK-VRC virtual routing core we can control the switching of any required sockets on selected or all router levels simultaneously using the menu driven programmable RCP-NKQ remote control panel. We can then monitor the crosspoint status via Phoenix Control Surface software in combination with the virtual control panel,” noted Mr. Hayrapian.

The speed and quality of Codan Broadcast’s delivery and installation along with the 24-hour support were crucial to the success of this project. As Codan Broadcast sells globally, superior quality, delivery and service are central components of our competitive advantage and success.
