MDA Series
SD / HD Multi-Definition Distribution Amplifier (Coax I/O)

Manual Service Bulletins Firmware FAQs

The MDA series of Multi-Definition digital distribution amplifiers provide a broadcast quality solution to the distribution of 270 Mb/s and 1.485 Gb/s HDTV signals.  A range of rear connectors allow either coaxial, fibre or both for I/O connections.

The MDA series of eurocards provides a variety of input and output options for the distribution of SD and HD television signals. Reclocking and non-reclocking variants are available.

Reclocking models may have coaxial and/or fibre inputs and outputs with the choice of rear connector assembly determining the I/O combination.  Up to six reclocked or non-reclocked outputs are available supporting both 270 Mb/s (SD, SMPTE 259M) and 1.485 Gb/s (HD, SMPTE 292M) signals.  An on-board automatic cable equaliser provides compensation for up to 300m (SD) or 120m (HD) of high quality coaxial cable.

When used in a frame fitted with the High Speed Bus backplane all reclocking MDA models may additionally use the High Speed Bus as an input source.

The SD/HD LEDs indicate if a 270 Mb/s input or 1.485Gb/s input is connected to the MDA. The PLL Lock LED indicates that the phase lock loop is locked to the incoming signal. Detection and configuration to support SD and HD data rates is automatic for all reclocking versions of the MDA series.

The MDA series hardware can be optioned to provide Monitoring and Control  (M&C) capabilities which can be used in any  M&C enabled frame. Configuration, status information and software updates will be provided via a custom graphic interface or via a standard Web Browser. Active monitoring of device status and alarms is provided using industry standard SNMP protocol.
